Aspen Equities has received offers on five of the eight units at its "seriously green" condominium project in Prospect Heights which we profiled briefly here at gbNYC last month. 580 Sterling Place, which is not seeking any third-party certification for its sustainable design features, currently has two units under contract; prices range from $299,000.00 to $499,000.00 for its 550 to 1100-square-foot apartments. As we noted previously, green elements include low-VOC paints and sealants, tankless gas hot water heaters, low-E windows, energy efficient kitchen and bathroom lighting, Energy Star appliances, bamboo flooring, dual flush toilets, programmable thermostats, and wind-powered common areas. Each apartment also offers private outdoor space as well as 9 or 10-foot ceiling heights and bicycle storage space. The project should be substantially complete within the next month with closings and move-in dates scheduled for sometime this summer. The New York Post noted 580 Sterling Place in an article today touting the success that some local developers are having with boutique green condominium projects, even in the current market.
