William Pedersen Designs Green Dog House Inspired by One Jackson Square

You may recall One Jackson Square, a 36-unit, 11-story condominium project under construction in the West Village that will seek an unspecified level of LEED certification from USGBC. The project was designed by KPF principal William Pedersen and sits on an irregularly-shaped site on the stretch of Greenwich Avenue between West 13th and 14th Streets. Recently, Mr. Pederson participated in a charity auction for the Animal Medical Center by designing a dog house inspired by his architecture at One Jackson Square.

450 West 14th Street: LEED for Core and Shell Above the High Line from Morris Adjmi

Developed by Charles Blaichman and designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, 450 West 14th Street will sit above an existing three-story masonry industrial building along 9th Avenue, straddle the High Line, and also seek an unspecified level of certification under USGBC’s LEED for Core and Shell (“LEED-CS”) rating system. The Slatin Report describes the project as a boutique office building that will offer 8,000 square feet of retail across two different ground-floor spaces. Some of the space is already leased; Japanese fashion company Theory has apparently signed up for 20,000 square feet of office space (about a quarter of the building’s total) while one of its designers, Helmut Lang, will occupy one of the ground-floor retail spaces.

10,000 Sq. Ft. Green Roof Approved for Village’s P.S. 41

Public School 41 received approval last Thursday from the School Construction Authority (”SCA”) for a 10,000-square-foot green roof. The school, located at 116 West 11th Street in Greenwich Village, will begin installing the roof next summer.
