British Airways announced yesterday that it will spend $30 million over the next 18 months to refurbish its Terminal 7 out at JFK International Airport. The project is slated to break ground in June and BA plans to pursue first LEED rating to date for any facility at JFK. Specific details on green design features aren’t available yet, but the new terminal will maximize natural daylight and presumably incorporate other LEED-standard credits. The New York Observer suggests that “modernist furniture, clean lines and general sleekness seemed to be the prevailing theme” for Terminal 7 at yesterday’s unveiling.

KPF on the Move to Tishman Speyer’s 11 West 42nd Street
Kohn Pederson Fox, architects of the future LEED Platinum Beer Belly Building headquarters of JPMorganChase at the World Trade Center site, as well as LEED Gold-certified Court Square Two in Long Island City, is moving its offices from 111 West 57th Street south to Tishman Speyer’s 11 West 42nd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues. The firm has inked a long-term deal for 65,000 square feet across the tower’s 8th, 9th, and 18th floors, where asking rents were in the neighborhood of $67 per square foot. The 32-story building, which was originally called the Salmon Tower, was built back in 1927 and originally designed by architects York & Sawyer.

Long Island City’s Court Square Two Receives LEED Gold Rating from USGBC
We’ve written previously about Court Square Two, Citigroup’s new 528,000 square foot, 14-story building in Long Island City, Queens, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox. On Monday, the $290 million project was officially awarded a LEED Gold rating from USGBC (better than the Silver rating that it was reportedly seeking).
