We've followed the Brooklyn Navy Yard redevelopment closely here at gbNYC, but one of the projects we've not mentioned to date is the Duggal Greenhouse, which is scheduled to break ground later this spring. The 2-story, 60,000-square-foot facility will aim for LEED Platinum and manufacture a variety of sustainable products, as well as serve as a testing laboratory where New York City-based Duggal Visual Solutions will aim to develop new types of green products and systems.
The $7 million project, which will convert an existing 1-story, 30,000-square-foot building at the Navy Yard, will be funded by Duggal and the city, which will provide $2 million for base building improvements to the roof and sprinkler systems. Duggal's EcoLounge at 29 West 23rd Street (image at bottom) serves as a showcase for the company's Green Initiative, which offers FSC-certified fine art papers, low-VOC inks, and other green features to traditional print and paper materials.
