Tour: Green Townhouse - 243 East 82nd Street
243 East 82nd Street

Please join us for a tour of 243 East 82nd Street. Built in 1915, this 3,970sf building is one of only a few single family projects in New York City pursuing LEED for Homes certification.

Developer Oyster Capital Group LLC set out to blend both the classic single family New York City townhouse with energy efficiency while reducing the impact on the local environment. With a team comprised of Steven Winter Associates, Inc., Daniel Frisch Architecture and Horizon Contractors, the project is nearing completion.

On this tour you will see various strategies employed that balance both aesthetics and sustainability. The project team will be on hand for the tour and will discuss the following goals and challenges:

* Durability strategies: Installing materials that last
* Improvement of the building envelope
* Energy reduction: Predicting a 40% savings compared to the Energy Code
* Rainwater harvesting for landscaping
* Construction waste reduction targets
