Green Building Design Foundations: the basics of LEED 2009 and implementation of a collaborative design process

Date/Time:
August 25, 2009 - 8:00am - 12:00pm

AIA Continuing Education Credit: HSW/SD 4.0 (AIA credits may also be used by NY State Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors)

This 4-hour course is designed for those seeking a technical introduction to green building design and the implementation of LEED 2009. If LEED is the “what,” Urban Green’s “Green Building Design Fundamentals” course is the “why” and “how.”

The course will begin with an overview of the fundamentals of green building, including the environmental impacts of buildings and how they are typically mitigated. This will be followed with a detailed description of LEED 2009 and the integrated, or collaborative, design process required to most effectively achieve the goals of this standard. Attendees will then be walked through a strong series of completed project case studies in which these concepts have been effectively implemented. A question and answer period will conclude this highly engaging session.

In addition to professional development this course will provide an excellent foundation for those studying for the LEED Green Associate exam.
