Open House New York and The Architect's Newspaper host a special film premiere of VISUAL ACOUSTICS, a documentary on the life and career of famed architectural photographer Julius Shulman, at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art's new academic building designed by Thom Mayne of the Los Angeles firm Morphosis. Shulman, who passed away this year, captured the work of nearly every major modern and progressive architect since the 1930s including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner, and Frank Gehry. His images epitomized the singular beauty of Southern California's modernist movement and brought its iconic structures to the attention of the general public. Dustin Hoffman narrates the film, which runs 84 minutes.
