Organic Avenue - Storefront

Organic Avenue, the Lower East Side-based purveyor of a broad range of organic products and vegan "experiences," including eco-friendly jeans and organic cooking classes, recently inked a 3200-square-foot lease for industrial space at 43-37 Ninth Avenue in Long Island City. The company will use the one-story building as manufacturing space to produce juice, food, clothing, and other products to support its online and retail operations in Manhattan. We wrote about Organic Avenue a while back in the context of what we dubbed, at the time, the Lower East Side's emerging green retail district; the company now boasts two retail outposts at 101 Stanton Street and 43 Eighth Avenue in the West Village. In late August, the retailer was rumored to be expanding into new space on Suffolk Street that was formerly occupied by Rothko, though it's unclear where those efforts stand currently. With respect to the Long Island City space, Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates, Inc. represented both landlord Schuman Properties and tenant in the lease negotiations.

This is a pretty cool store.

This is a pretty cool store. I wonder how much longer it will take a concept like this to truly go mainstream into regional shopping malls.
