Greening Your Life: The Lazy Environmentalist
Josh Dorfman’s book, The Lazy Environmentalist, Your Guide to Easy, Stylish, Green Living was released a few weeks ago and if you haven’t picked up a copy yet, I strongly urge you to do so. It’s absolutely the most comprehensive green resource that I’ve come across to date. Of particular interest to this blog, Chapter 6 is devoted entirely to green real estate and includes a directory of sustainable residential buildings from across the country (many of which are here in New York City - Dorfman calls lower Manhattan’s Verdesian, Solaire, and Tribeca Green “the greatest testaments to our collective will and capability to lead outrageously cool lifestyles in balance with nature’s capacity to sustain them”). Chapter 7 discusses architecture and construction for the single-family home. Dorfman describes prefab options and presents readers with a wide variety of sources for green construction materials- from ICFs and SIPs to low-VOC paints and sealants.
Other chapters similarly present green options for virtually every aspect of your life - from your wardrobe, bedroom, kitchen, car, office, and even for your pets. This book is a terrific resource and I’m really impressed with it- congratulations, Josh!
