Electronic Arts, the Silicon Valley-based software company whose portfolio of video game franchises includes The Sims, Sim City, the Madden football series, and Command and Conquer, has signed a 5-year lease for just over 7200 square feet of space on the 36th floor of SL Green’s 1515 Broadway, joining an all-star roster of tenants that includes MTV, Nickelodeon, and Paramount Pictures.
Built in 1972 and originally designed by Ely J. Kahn & Jacobs, the 54-story, 1.75 million-square-foot 1515 Broadway recently received a $60 million facelift, designed by KPF. The project included new state-of-the-art HVAC and building systems, lobby renovations, new tenant entrances, common corridors, and bathrooms, as well as an expansion and energy-efficient re-glazing of the building’s signature street-level glass curtain wall. Located between West 44th and 45th Streets, 1515 Broadway is also known as One Astor Plaza, a nod to the famous Astor Hotel, which was razed to make way for the new tower.
SL Green, which is pursuing a LEED-EB:OM Silver rating from USGBC for 1515 Broadway, was represented in-house in connection with the Electronic Arts transaction; Jones Lang LaSalle represented the tenant.
