New York City-based consulting, engineering, and commissioning firm Syska Hennessy Group has earned LEED Gold certification under the Commercial Interiors category for its 65,000-square-foot headquarters at 1515 Broadway in Times Square. Providing its own design for MEP, lighting, IT, and AV systems, Syska Hennessy integrated those systems with a building management system that includes lighting presets and motorized shades for both conference room and office spaces. The office itself – which can accommodate up to 250 employees and spreads across two floors – also features extensive daylighting and efficient plumbing fixtures.
Syska Hennessy was founded in 1928 and has played a role in a number of major projects here in New York City, including providing commissioning for the LEED Platinum Bank of America Tower and serving as engineers-of-record for Thom Mayne’s LEED Platinum academic building at Cooper Union. Cyrus Izzo, the co-president of the firm, recently elaborated on these and other firm issues in an interview in the Times (available here).
The 54-story 1515 Broadway – as you may recall – is undergoing a $60 million facelift that should result in a LEED-EB:OM Silver certification for landlord SL Green. Syska Hennessy moved into its new space back in early 2010.
