Developed by Boerum Hill-based R & E Brooklyn, Inc., 93 Nevins Street and 453 Pacific Street (collectively, the Brooklyn Health House) are currently under construction. The project team, which includes Kiss + Cathcart Architects and general contractor GreenStreet Construction, is remodeling a 1920s-era brick pharmacy- which also served as a Laundromat and a deli - into two three-bedroom, 2.5 bath townhouses that will each boast over 100 different green design features. Green Depot - also of Brooklyn - is furnishing the development with a variety of sustainable materials and products, and the project will be the first townhouses in New York City to be certified under the American Lung Association’s Health House program, as well as be featured as Natural Home Magazine’s 2007 Show House. 93 Nevins broke ground back in February and an early 2008 occupancy is planned; Natural Home and Green Depot will begin showcasing the project sometime this fall.
Green design features at 93 Nevins include a hybrid solar-thermal/gas-fired HVAC system, radiant floor heating, recycled glass countertops, low-VOC-finished bamboo flooring, and sorghum stalk (grass) kitchen cabinets. The original brick façade is being restored and maintained and roof-integrated photovoltaic panels will supply most of the development’s electricity. More info and photos via the links below.

It isn't 435 Pacific St. It is 453 Pacific St. I lived at 439 from 1942 until 1950 when we moved to 156 Dean St.

Thanks for stopping by, Don-
Thanks for stopping by, Don- some sloppy editing on my part and I beg your apologies. Indiana is a beautiful state. I spent a lot of time out there as a kid after my best friend moved away. I'd go visit him every summer just outside of South Bend. Again, my apologies and I hope you'll continue reading and commenting!

I thought that I was the only one to make typos. I'm glad to have a
spell checker on line all of the time, but numbers, well that's another story. Keep up the good work.
You can take the boy out of Brooklyn, but ...
