Crain's Chicago Business Devotes Focus Section to Green Building

Just a quick post directing you to a section in this upcoming week's Crain's Chicago Buisness focusing exclusively on green building. A series of articles discuss green roofs and the financial benefits of green building, among many other things. This particular article, entitled Energy and Aesthetics, though somewhat disappointing in substance, at least touches on something that a few of my previous posts have tried to point out- the lack of interplay between architectural design excellence and the LEED rating system itself.

Architect Helen Kessler helps her clients get Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, a designation from the U.S. Green Building Council that indicates a building has met, among other things, energy efficiency standards. Crain's asked Ms. Kessler, president of HJKessler Associates Inc. in Chicago, how buildings can look good and run as economically as her Toyota Prius.
